Why do you collect personal data?
We collect personal data to be able to offer a tailored service for your job-hunting needs. The services available depend on whether you have registered with the Jobs website and whether or not you decide to upload your CV to it or to create a Profile.
What personal data do you collect?
- your name;
- your address;
- the country you live in;
- your email address;
- your phone numbers;
- your nationality;
- your IP address;
- details of your education and working career;
- your personal interests; and
- details of how you interact with the Jobs website and vacancies you might be interested in.
How do you collect it?
You provide personal data to the Jobs website by:
- registering as a user;
- creating a Profile;
- posting material to the Jobs website (for example, your CV); and
- storing a copy of your CV and any other information you provide when you send it to a recruiter.

What do you do with my personal data?
If you have not registered
If you are not registered, you can use basic functions such as sending CVs to job recruiters. In these circumstances, we will store a copy of your CV, and any other information you provide, for no longer than we need.
If you have registered
If you are registered with the website, there are more services available, including:
- an individual account to send job applications from;
- the option to receive email alerts about relevant jobs, a CV-matching service and the Job match service; and
- the option to receive notifications about offers and services from the Irish Times or other organisations.
When you register and upload your CV to the Jobs website or create a CV on it, you can also benefit from:
- a facility for recruiters to see your CV for specific roles you have applied for or that they believe you might be interested in;
- a private and secure area on the website to manage your job preferences, privacy settings and to update your CV and details;
- opting in to Job match emails;
- storing your CV on the Jobs website database; and
- a ‘public profile’ which anyone can see(you can hide your CV), including recruiters. This profile shows roles you are interested in, an idea of the salary you are looking for and preferred location. (Recruiters can find this profile through search engines, so do not include your name, contact details or any personal information in this section.)
How do the different services available through the Jobs website use my data?
There are two email alerts that you can receive.
If you have accepted the Irish Times.com marketing emails, you can receive Job alerts emails suggesting jobs based on information in your profile. To stop the emails you can use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email and will need to sign in to your theIrish Times.com profile to adjust your marketing preferences.
You can also choose to receive Job match emails that are tailored to your job preferences, for example, sector and location. You can stop these emails by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.
One-off job applications
When you apply for a one-off application, we keep a copy of your CV for six months and share it directly with the company who advertised the position
Logged in – CV
When you have created an account with the Jobs website and uploaded your CV details (whether by directly uploading them or creating a CV on the Jobs website) we store your details on the main CV database and recruiters can have access to them, depending on your settings.
As a registered user you can change the privacy settings affecting who can see your CV for example, you can choose to share it with all recruiters. If you choose this option, it does mean your CV could be viewed by any recruiter. It is a good idea to check this setting frequently as new recruiters are regularly added. If you do choose to share your CV or personal details with recruiters, we ask them not to hold your CV for longer than is necessary and not to use your CV for purposes other than recruitment.
Logged in – job applications
When you create an account with the Jobs website, we keep your information in a database until you close your account. Through your account you can change your job-search preferences and control who can see your CV if you have one associated with the account.
How do I delete or close my account with you?
When you delete your CV through the Jobs website, we will not keep a copy of the information. However, we are not responsible for how recruiters who have already received your CV store your details or CV.
To delete your account, use the ‘Delete’ button at the bottom of your account page when you have signed in to the Jobs website.
Any member of the public may send a formal complaint about inappropriate or unacceptable content on the Irish Times Executive Jobs website, including a complaint about any content or postings submitted by users and a complaint of a breach of the Community Standards, by using the Report Inappropriate Content form. The option to "flag" breaches of Community Standards is a facility which is only open to registered members of the community.
We may change this policy from time to time. Any changes will apply when they have been posted on the site. We will assume you accept these change if you continue to use the site after that time. Details of the changes will be set out below.
